meh...

Took my six year old to see it. He loves the music and we thought it would be entertaining for him to see a live performance. Knowing that their audience is primarily parents with small children, they should really attempt to start on time. The introductory remarks didn't start until 2:20, then there was a nonsensical 20 minute intro to provide the "backstory." By the time the actual performance of the Nutcracker started, it was almost 3 PM. We had been sitting in our seats for well over an hour. We left after the first act at 3:20. Additionally, the Birmingham Ballet really ought to consider hiring the Alabama Symphony Orchestra to perform the music. The piped-in track was disappointing, and really not loud enough to fill the concert hall. Considering the cost of the tickets, they could do better.
