The pressure was on as we boarded the plane after school on Friday. My two daughters, ages 13 and 15, were experiencing their first concert. For the last 32 days, I have talked about nothing else but how DANK this concert was going to be, as my middle child would say. I knew I wanted to have that experience with them, but finding an event that was going to be worthy seemed impossible. Until one of my daughters read the announcement about the EPICENTER '09 festival on Linkin Park's website. She told me about the lineup planned for the festival, once she was calm enough to speak in a language I could understand. Hollywood Undead, a band I accidentally downloaded almost a year ago and turned my kids onto. Linkin Park, what hasn't been said already that I can try to top? The Nutcracker, "OMG! We are there!" was the end of that conversation as we turned all of our attention to finding tickets. It wasn't until later that day that I realized Alice In Chains was to perform as well. ALICE IN CHAINS!!! One of my all-time favorite artists! The last time I got to see them was before the two daughters I was now taking to their first concert were even born. I saw them in Sacramento when they opened for Slayer so many years ago. It may have been the night we conceived! It was an incredible feeling to have the music that I have listened to for their entire lifetime being played out live just a few yards away from me. The festival lived up to everything I could have wanted for their first time. Unlike I'm sure their first boyfriends will, it was well-organized, clean, and free food and drinks? Never have I ever had that at any concert I had been to! Well done to everyone that was involved and THANK YOU!
